WHAT IS A FLAT RATE?
Taxicabs, in general, are equipped with meters. A taxi that is flagged down for hire will run the meter to calculate the fare. Meters usually calculate by miles and time. If you sit at a red light in your taxi, the meter will continue to run and calculate.. At your destination, you pay what the meter indicates - plus gratuity. Some people expect a metered fare, but they will generally cost more than flat rates...if you have hired our service and asked us for a flat rate and still you see the meter running we are simply demonstrating how much more it would have cost you if you had asked us to run the meter for your fare. The difference will SHOCK you!
A flat rate is a price quote given for transportation to those who reserve taxi service. It does not involve meters. You are given a quote for the price of transportation from "point A" to "point B".. If the driver stops at a red light, has to fuel up at a gas station or gets slow moving traffic in their path (among other things)...your fare does not change. The advantages of flat rates are a generally lower cost than a metered fare and that there are no unexpected or unwelcomed surprises. When we give you a flat rate that price is not a per-person price. That price is for one to five people in a minivan. The fare may be divided among your party. Children under 10 ride for free with their parents. Children under eight years old require a car seat/booster seat. Gratuity is not included in that rate.

ADDED CHARGES
Flat rates are given for the cost of transportation only. A short stop along the way under five minutes is at no additional cost to you. (If your driver stops to fuel up that is not part of your wait time.) If you need to stop along the way to go shopping (for example) there is an additional charge of $25 for each hour your use. Gratuities are not included in the flat rate transportation price quote. Gratuities are separate and are for the driver. They are appreciated and expected. A gratuity is generally 15 - 20 percent of the fare..
If you must carry a liquid or beverage we ask that it not be alcoholic, that it is in a bottle with a cap that fastens to the top and that it not be in a can. We ask that you do not eat food in the vehicle. We ask that you keep your feet off of the seats, especially in mud season. Cleaning fees are only applied when we find chewing or bubble gum stuck to the seats, permanent stains (such as ink) on the seats and spilled beverages and other messes than cannot be cleaned easily. If we need to hire a detailer to remove such stains or messes you will charged $75 per instance. If you leave behind garbage, such as fast-food bags or empty bottles, we will ask you to come back to the vehicle to remove your garbage...after all, you would not want to ride in a vehicle with someone else's leftover garbage under the seats or stuffed under the armrests would you? Please make every effort to prevent spills, stains ot messes so that we won't need to charge a fee for cleaning up.
